Five new students have recently joined the Obenauf lab, including Master’s and Bachelor’s candidates as well as summer interns.

Sarah is currently enrolled in the Master’s program Molecular Medicine. For her master thesis project she will work closely with Martin investigating the mechanisms of drug resistance in osteosarcoma. 

Verena is attending the Master’s program Molecular Precision Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna. She joined the lab for her master thesis and will work with Jingyi exploring pyroptosis, a form of immunogenic cell death, in the context of cancer and cancer therapeutics. 

Valentina is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Krems. For her bachelor thesis she will work together with Jakob focusing on enhancing the efficacy of T-cell based immunotherapies for cancer treatment.

Susanne is currently enrolled in the Master’s program Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She joined the laboratory as a summer student of the Vienna BioCenter Summer School and will work with Johanna and Sofia investigating the mechanisms driving acquired resistance to KRAS inhibitors in lung adenocarcinoma.

Johanna joined the lab for a summer internship. She is currently finishing her Master’s degree at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and will work with Lisi and Lisa on immune evasion mechanisms linked to obesity and metastatic development.
